Carry on the festivities after the Super Bowl this Sunday, February 4th and join Magic Rat Live Music as they welcome the famed Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, with proceeds benefitting the Trombone Shorty Foundation. New Orleans native Troy Andrews (aka Trombone Shorty) leads this hard-edged funk band that employs hip-hop beats, rock dynamics and improvisation in jazz tradition. The band has toured the U.S. and Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, Russia and Brazil. Andrews has played in the White House, backed Macklemore and Madonna at the Grammys, played on albums by She & Him, Zac Brown, Dierks Bentley, opened tours for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and inherited the esteemed annual fest-closing set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in the tradition of Crescent City Greats like the Neville Brothers and Professor Longhair. The Trombone Shorty Foundation funds the academy that perpetuates the musical heritage of New Orleans by teaching local high school students homegrown New Orleans music, increasing their educational offerings at the new Jazz & Heritage Center.
