One year ago these wines were under the radar, now they are the hippest of the hip, the hardest to get, the cool kid wines that are making Spain cool again. This wild explosion in popularity can be almost entirely attributed to the import portfolio of Jose Pastor.
Bobby and the Frasca team were some of the earliest supporters of Jose Pastor in Colorado. The great Chris Barnes will be working the room andpouring three delicious wines from three unique terroirs of Spain. Bobby and Jose will pour a deliciously mineral, salty single vineyard Albarino from Alberto Nanclares, a stand out producer in the Salnes subregion of Rias Baixas. Next, a partially whole cluster, bright grenache from the cool kid wine gang that is Envinante - their “Albahra” bottling from Almansa. Finally, the team will end the evening with a mineral, granitic Mencia from Ribeira Sacra - a wine that is the perfect fit for lovers of northern rhone syrah and great cru beaujolais. This is definitely the “New Spain”.
