
Classic Colorado Bison Burger

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground bison
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil optional
- 4 slices cheddar cheese optional
- 8 slices applewood-smoked bacon optional
- 4 burger buns or brioche
- For garnish: lettuce, tomato, onion, sweet pickles, as desired
Instructions
- Heat your grill to approximately 450–500°F.
- Divide ground bison into 4 balls; flatten them into patties.
- Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Prepare the bacon, if using.
- If using a skillet or griddle, add 1 tablespoon of oil and heat oil before adding the burgers.
- Sear the burgers for 3–4 minutes per side then cook them to the desired temperature.
- Add the cheese and cook until melted. Top with bacon.
- Place patties on toasted buns.
- Serve with garnishes of lettuce, sliced onion, sliced tomato and sweet pickles.
